walk here…Fort Adams Bay Walk

Fort Adams Bay Walk

New this year is the Bay Walk at Fort Adams State Park. This two mile walking & biking path was created as part of the improvements made to the Park in preparation for the America’s Cup World series.

Well folks the improvements are complete, the races have begun and now is the perfect time to experience both.  The bay walk is a two mile accessible walking path that will take you around the perimeter of the park . Not only will you see exceptional views of the East Passage and Jamestown, but during this weekend you can also check out an amazing sailing event.

When it comes to the races don’t be intimidated if you don’t know a jib from a Mainsail.  Sailors and Non sailors alike will enjoy the day. It’s really all about being apart of the atmosphere. Seeing that this is the first time an America’s Cup racing event has been held in Newport in 29 years it is well worth the effort to check it out. It is exhilarating, beautiful and dangerously fast. (sometimes you even get to see these multi million dollar beauties capsize. Yikes)

So let’s recap: Lovely walk. Beautiful views. Exciting Sailing. All here in Newport RI.

The admission during race days is $10. To get to the park take a water taxi which shuttles from Perrotti Park on America’s Cup Avenue and Fort Adams. The taxi will run continually during the event period every 15 minutes during race days (June 28-July 1). Tickets can be purchased at the Perrotti Park Harbor Shuttle and Ferry Landing. Water taxi pricing: one way: $5.00, round trip: $10.00,for further information please visit oldportmarine.com or call 401-847-9109.
